SUBJECT: Facing Curve numbers
Hi guys Is it possible to use the curve numbers on Theo's book as basis for the target curve and encode it on the facing schedule that we use here? Thanks

List a sample of what the data in the book looks like. > On Aug 9, 2016, at 7:06 AM, warren927736@... hmmmm..It looks like this one... He just have 5 feelers here and I use 12.. What I tried to do in the facing schedule was I input the reading at .002 feeler, the tip opening, and decided for the tip rail thickness. For soprano I used 0.5 to 0.8 thickness

A curve can be fitted through the data. Typically, a radial or elliptical curve will not fit 5 feeler data well. But these curves will show spots in the data that are high or low. I think these are almost always defects, not features that should be copied. But if you want to copy them, fit the data with a polynomial curve. Then use the equation of the curve fit wth your set of feelers. Send your spreadsheet and I can show you an example by modifying it. > On Aug 9, 2016, at 8:04 AM, warren927736@... "A curve can be fitted through the data. Typically, a radial or elliptical curve will not fit 5 feeler data well......." ---> Ahhhh..So that's why no matter how hard I try to match the numbers on the data, still, it doesn't match with what's in the book... "But these curves will show spots in the data that are high or low. I think these are almost always defects, not features that should be copied." ----> what does "spots in the data that are high or low" mean? Defects? You mean defects on the curve of the mouthpiece and by "should not be copied" you mean it shouldn't be used as targets? hmmmm...Polynomial curve? That's different to the radial curve, right? Thanks I'll attach the facing schedule spreadsheet here..

Here's the facing schedule I attempted to make for theo's curve numbers... thanks a lot :)

I just reran the Radial Curve fit to match the Wanne data a little better. I do not see the need to get into polynomial curve fits. I made some comments in the Revised spreadsheet. Thanks for this one Mojo...:) So with this data, does this mean that I can now use this one as a template for the other facing numbers in theo's book and use this also as the facing targets for future works or not?

It depends on your spreadsheet skills. If you have to ask, I'm not so sure. > On Aug 9, 2016, at 12:44 PM, warren927736@...
