That's a nice idea, that row of drilled out spacers for the ligature,
enabling consistent ligature placement, and locking it in place.

OTOH, I always found that a Link ligature (which your lig resembles) was
hard to tighten sufficiently; the knurled knob was essentially too
small. The reed was always slipping around on the table whenever I
adjusted the moutpiece position on the neck.

Thanks Barry,

Cutting super-fine threads in the screw mechanism let's you easily tighten as much as is needed to keep the reed from sliding out of position.

What is the tip opening and facing length? It may just be too open for you.

Barry -

Wrap a thick rubber band several times around the knob, and tightening will be no trouble. A short length of silicone surgical tubing will be more durable. I've used it for years on my clarinet thumb rests. You could also dip the knob into the coating stuff used for plier handles.

For a painful-to-turn 3-way lamp switch, I jig-sawed a wood surround and epoxied it on.

Advice appreciated.

That said, I haven't played a metal Link for
years, and switched to a Rovner on my last Link.

As I sit at this
computer bench, one of the architect lamps has a rotary switch on the
way to failure, very stiff. I jammed a potentiometer knob onto it that
happened to be a tight fit, and that's working for time being.

Life is
full of these little fixes, but I hate it when there are a dozen
awaiting my attention.
