If the difference isn't too great, paint the inside of the mouthpiece where it goes on the cork with clear nailpolish - several coats may be needed. I learned this here, it's handy. > From: "John" <john_w_price33@...> > Reply-To: MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com > Date: Fri, 02 Dec 2011 21:47:25 -0000 > To: MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com > Subject: [MouthpieceWork] simple fix > > > > Is there a quick easy fix for mouthpieces with a large inner diameter so they > fit nicely on the neckcork.( Without adjusting the cork) > > > >

I use a coating of JB Weld inside the mouthpiece. Then I coil up a strip of clear plastic and let it spring open inside the shank. After it sets, peel out the plastic and sand it smooth. You usually need to make the bore diameter .010" smaller when they are too loose. ________________________________ From: Barry Levine <barrylevine@...m> To: MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, December 2, 2011 6:51 PM Subject: Re: [MouthpieceWork] simple fix If the difference isn't too great, paint the inside of the mouthpiece where it goes on the cork with clear nailpolish - several coats may be needed. Since it has not been said: a strip of scrap paper wrapped around the cork. Simple and it works. ________________________________ From: Tony Fairbridge <tfairbri@...> To: MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, December 2, 2011 10:41 PM Subject: RE: [MouthpieceWork] simple fix White tape used by plumbers, readily available in hardware stores. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm learning the craft by using Runyon blanks and they are larger than most alto bores. Regarding Ken's suggestion what do you mean by "peel out the plastic"? You don't mean take out what you just put in? ...or do you? The strip of coiled plastic is just there as a temporary former to mould the JB Weld to the required shape. Once the JJB Weld has set it can be removed and the JB Weld sanded to final fit. Tony F.
