Does anyone have a source for a nice thin tubular stock to band a rubber Berg Bari piece. Ive been playing mine since 1970 and the shank wants to banded approx 1" ID I don't have a lathe here so I will have to take it down by hand so the closer to 1" the better. I only need 1 or 2 inches of it. The only stuff I found I would need to buy hundreds of feet of. Thanks for any suggestions. Keith fixed the tip on this one a few months back. I have played a couple hundred Bari pieces. This one is just perfect for me. Thanks again John Z

Speedy Metals <http://www.speedymetals.com/default.aspx> excellent
selection and you can order small quantities

OnlineMetals.com
<http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=947&step=2&top_cat=60>
TexasTowers.com <http://www.texastowers.com/aluminum_.htm> (wide selection)

Windchimes by the inch
<http://www.windchimesbytheinch.com/Aluminum_Tubing.html>

I make low D Irish whistles and these are good online sources. Depends
on what material you're looking for. !'' ID copper is easily found @
Lowes or Home Depot in 1ft lengths, but it's ridiculously expensive.

Thanks Keith. SPOT ON , This is an excellent source. I would have you band it but I can't live without it for more than 2 or 3 days at a time and I am also a woodwind tech. JZ

No problem.  Check out this shank job I recently did on a HR Berg:

Hi John,
Another possibility is to install a carbon fiber band.
It is mixed with epoxy, the black color blends nicely with hard rubber, and is very strong.
Also, what I like is, it will adapt to all shapes and sizes.

I've been making bands from aluminum tubing, chucking up in my Microlux Mini-Lathe from Micromark (blatant advertising) and cutting down the outside, bringing to a nice near mirror finish, and boring the inside to needed dimensions.

Let me know L and ID needed.
