SUBJECT: Bought a Guardala off a customer today....
Say what you will about Dave Guardala (and I won't, since the topic here is equipment, not people), I bought a Guardala off a customer of mine this morning, a "real one", not a laser trimmed, and I've got to say that the finish work is astounding. Really to the highest possible standard. I can see why people were so fond of these pricey little beggars....... <http://www.nationofmusic.com/ecommerce/> PLEASE VISIT MY WEB SITES http://www.nationofmusic.com <http://www.nationofmusic.com/> http://www.saxnation.com/forum/ http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/SaxophoneRepair/ http://www.saxgourmet.com <http://www.saxgourmet.com/> <http://www.cafepress.com/saxgourmet> http://www.cafepress.com/saxgourmet <http://saxophonethoughts.blogspot.com/> http://saxophonethoughts.blogspot.com/ http://www.MySpace.com/saxgourmet <http://youtube.com/results?search_query=saxgourmetsteve&search_type> http://youtube.com/results?search_query=saxgourmetsteve&search_type The Music Business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs. Steve, (and fellow mouthpiece guys), Dave is a fine craftsman. It takes a hell of a lot to produce and market a mouthpiece, and my hat is off to him, Phil Barone, (another super cat), Lamberson and others who have actually created something. These guys talk the talk AND walk the walk. Dear Folks, This brings up a question that may not belong here - but, I figure the fine folks here would be "in the know" about this: Question: Whatever happened to the supposed mess between Guardala, Barone and the like? If you are to believe the rumors on usenet (use-less net is more like it), and sax-wannabes on the web - there was a lot of animosity and dirty business going on between the two. But, what are the cold, hard facts? What's the real truth behind their apparent disappearance from the market? I don't see much in the way of new Guardalas, Barones or Sugals lately.... If you don't want to post here, and possibly stir up a hornet's nest - you can email me privately. I'm just simply curious. Thanks! Sincerely, Karsten J. Karsten, a few minutes with Google will bring up more than you want to know. You are correct, this is not the place for this question. Paul "Karsten J. Dear Paul, Thanks for the suggestion - I had done so a couple of years ago, exactly what you had said. But, with all the conflicting comments posted in usenet and the WWW about the matter - it was difficult to determine what was fact and what was fiction.... I knew the question wasn't entirely appropriate, and if anyone feels offended in any way - I apologize. However, I figured that if anyone knew the truth behind the stories - it would be someone here on this fantastic mailing list. Thanks again.... Sincerely, Karsten J.
