Mouthpiece Work / Mouthpiece Nomenclature

SUBJECT: Mouthpiece Nomenclature
Is there anywhere that shows a side view cutaway drawing of a typical mouthpiece with the different areas identified relative to the nomenclature sheet in the files area? For example; a cutaway with arrows indicating the bore start/end, crown/ball, the chamber start/end, types of baffle and where the heights are measured from, etc. Also, in the mouthpiece data sheet, there is a box for chamber end shape. What are the typical options? I have mpcs that have contours where the chamber meets the bore that are circular, straight sides with curved top & bottom, straight, but angled (where the top is flat, but not as wide as the bottom), flat on top & bottom and concave on the sides. Another question (maybe this should be a separate post): Does it matter whether the side rails are angled, or parallel? Thank you, David

This is for you to insert your own words. It is difficult to capture all the 3D shapes with words or measurements. But a few words are better than nothing. Theo Wanne's site has a few chamber pictures and descriptions. > > Another question (maybe this should be a separate post): Does it > matter whether the side rails are angled, or parallel? > Do you mean the inner sidewalls. I generally note if they are straight or curved. Sometime I describe an "A" chamber if the walls are not parallel as found in Brilharts.

Do you mean the inner sidewalls. I generally note if they are
straight or curved. Sometime I describe an "A" chamber if the walls
are not parallel as found in Brilharts.
I was, actually, talking about the window opening. Where most are tapered from the tip to the rear radius.

OK. I generally record the window width at the tip and 1" away from the
tip. But I have never done anything with these readings.
