Mouthpiece Work / Filling in the Lines

> >My specs for the glass etching call for the lines to be .005" deep and wide >and filled with white paint. They may not need to be that deep, but some >depth is needed to keep the paint from scaping off over time. Most glass >etchers I contacted will not quote on filling with paint. Years ago I used to work at a ski shop where we did engraving on skis and bowling balls. We filled the engarving in by rubbing over the top of it with a sort of waxy crayon then just rubbed the excess off with a rag. I'm not sure if .005 is deep enough to hold material like this but it might be easier then trying to paint them. Keith

Keith: We use the same technique you describe to highlight trademarks on clarinets and to add color to engraved saxophones. I am not sure that .005 is deep enough to hold the material. -----Original Message----- From: MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com [mailto:MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Keith Ley Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2005 11:41 AM To: MouthpieceWork@yahoogroups.com Subject: [MouthpieceWork] Filling in the Lines > >My specs for the glass etching call for the lines to be .005" deep and >wide and filled with white paint.
