I'm new to this group and have been having trouble finding information
on the basics, specifically table flattening.  Any advice would be
greatly appreciated.

Go to the MPWork site.  Click on Messages.  Search on  "table 
flattening".  It only gives a few hits at a time.  You need to click 
on "Next" to get more hits.
