I am glad your thing worked out.  Shippers can really
mess things up, and I am glad that things will work. 
Just out of curiosity, who is actually losing the
money here?  Is Theo just going to eat it or is there
a claim pending with Fedex?

Usually, it is the responsibility of the sender to get the goods to the
reciever.  The sender has to deal with the shipper to recover costs, if
