Hi All, Just a few lines to introduce myself. My name is Griff and I'm a woodwind and brass repairer from England. Very interested in saxophone mouthpiece design and refacing. refaced a few damaged Dukoffs and the customer ( a very well known player) was amazed as he thought the pieces were beyond saving. (I was quite pleased too!!) I work mainly from home ( www.dg-music.co.uk ) and look forward to learning more and sharing info and making new freinds. Regards griff

I have just aquired an old Selmer (London) Clarinet. It is inscribed "Student Console" and underneath "Foreign" s/n 343032. I wondered if you or anyone else might be able to throw some light on the mpc that came with it.It is inscribed "Calteau" also the marks '2' and 'made in England'Any info will be appreciated. The Calteau's I used in 1958 were ivory coloured hard plastic costing about £2 sterling then. I remember they came in tip openings 1/2/3 and I found them rather close for Jazz, resulting in my first crude attempts at refacing, on a smooth doorstep at RAF Nicosia, Cyprus. With all the info available here, I would not recommend this approach today. Hello Eddie, Thanks a lot for coming back so quickly with your valuable info.My 'Calteau' looks like HR but I'm a novice here! I t does seem in good condition but as a clarinettist who one day aspires to playing Jazz what sort of mpc should I be on the lookout for?
